Maloom Podcast — Branding, Logo & Digital Identity
A clear, approachable, and knowledge-driven brand identity designed to position Maloom as the go-to Arabic podcast that simplifies science and answers life’s big questions.
Overview: In a region where Arabic educational content is still growing, Maloom fills a vital gap: making science accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life. Produced under Sowt Podcast, the show breaks down complex topics about women, the world, and the universe in a way that is approachable for all audiences.
I was commissioned as lead designer to create the full identity system for the podcast, ensuring it could work seamlessly across all podcast platforms, YouTube, and social media channels. The challenge was to design a visual language that felt credible yet friendly, rooted in clarity but flexible enough for multiple formats and touchpoints.
My role: Lead Designer — brand strategy, creative direction, logo design, digital identity system, illustration elements, typography system, social media templates, podcast platform assets, YouTube channel branding, and comprehensive brand guidelines.
Challenge: Science can often feel intimidating or too technical for general audiences. The challenge was to distill Maloom’s mission — “simplifying science in Arabic” — into a visual identity that communicates trust, curiosity, and accessibility. The brand needed to stand apart in the saturated podcast market, where thumbnails, social visuals, and recognisable logos are the first points of connection for listeners.
Approach: The design process began with research into science communication, Arabic podcast identities, and educational visual systems. I created moodboards exploring different tones: minimal and authoritative, playful and illustrative, and bold and contemporary. After presenting three directions, we refined the chosen route into a flexible identity system.
The logo and supporting elements were designed to be modular and scalable, working in small digital formats (podcast platforms, app icons) as well as larger applications (YouTube banners, social templates). Supporting graphics, icons, and typography reinforced a sense of clarity and curiosity, while maintaining cultural relevance for Arabic-speaking audiences.
Deliverables: Logo design, brand style guide, digital identity system, typography system, illustration elements, podcast cover artwork, social media templates, YouTube assets, and marketing collateral for digital campaigns.
Outcome: The final identity positioned Maloom as a trusted yet engaging Arabic science podcast, balancing authority with accessibility. The cohesive branding gave Sowt Podcast a system they could scale across all channels, ensuring recognisability on every platform. With its distinctive logo, adaptable visuals, and clear storytelling identity, Maloom is set to grow as a flagship show that makes science both understandable and exciting for Arabic-speaking audiences.
